Sermon Title: The Supper Guests – Matthew 9:9–13

The sermon explores the people who formed “Team Jesus” leading up to the Last Supper.
It highlights key individuals in Jesus’ life and how people become part of His mission.
Key People in Jesus’ Story
1. Jesus Christ
The central figure of the Bible and the Messiah.
Fully reveals God and fulfills the Old Covenant.
Declares Himself “the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6).
2–3. Mary and Joseph
Joseph: Carpenter, righteous and obedient man chosen to raise Jesus.
Mary: Virgin mother of Jesus, knowledgeable in Scripture, obedient to God’s calling.
Played crucial roles in Jesus’ early life and ministry.
4. John the Baptist
Cousin of Jesus who prepared the way for the Messiah.
Called people to repentance and baptized them.
Declared Jesus as the “Lamb of God.”
Eventually executed by Herod Antipas.
The Gospel Message (4 Key Declarations)

Jesus is King.
Jesus died for humanity’s sins.
Jesus rose again to defeat sin and death.
How People Join “Team Jesus”
Faith involves four responses:
1. Belief (Faith: Hebrews 11:6)
Recognizing God and trusting in Him.
2. Repentance (1 John 1:9)
Turning away from sin and changing loyalty to Jesus.
3. Confession (Public Faith)
Declaring that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:8–10).
4. Baptism (Matthew 3:16-17)
Symbolic immersion representing death to the old life and new life in Christ.
Closing Challenge
Salvation is a gift of grace received through faith (Ephesians 2:8).
The audience is invited to respond to God’s grace and become part of Jesus’ team.
